The Womb Chair was designed in the late 1940s by Finnish "form giver" Eero Saarinen after he was challenged by renowned architect Florence Knoll to create a chair that she could curl up in. Also known to be Hugh Hefner's favorite chair (Hefner was pictured with the very first edition of Playboy sitting in the Womb chair), the Womb Chair is intended to facilitate a relaxed seating posture, and so derives its name from the sense of security felt while relaxing in it. Snuggle up in this comfy chair and you'll never want to get out! And if you are looking for even more comfort, the Womb Ottoman is the perfect match for this chair.
We love Eero Saarinen's work and we would not even attempt to reproduce his original design if this was not done right to the smallest level of detail. Each piece is constructed with the finest materials and upholstered with high quality wool fabric, creating a personalized beautiful finish. The fiberglass shell creates the perfect shape and ensures that this chair is built to last and not just to impress! Multi-density foam is applied over the fiberglass for ultimate comfort. The chair stands on a polished stainless steel frame.
